Palm Tree Classification and Area Estimation from Satellite Imagery
Challenge
An agricultural monitoring body needed an accurate, repeatable way to identify palm plantations and estimate planted area across a large region - a task previously done through slow, inconsistent manual surveys.
Solution
TeraIT built a remote sensing pipeline that classifies palm tree canopies from multispectral satellite imagery and automatically estimates planted area per parcel, exposed through a mapping interface analysts use to review and export results by region.
Outcome
The classification model replaced manual survey work with a repeatable, satellite-driven process, giving analysts consistent area estimates they can re-run every season instead of re-surveying by hand.
